ZU and Maram Union issue final verdict on Maram incident; NPO, SDSA & SDWA endorse

A final joint statement issued by the Zeliangrong Union (AMN) and Maram Union in regard to the physical assault of Ringsonbou Newmai have stated that the warden of Josephine Hostel, Maram Hingba Mathew will reimburse all the medical expenses of the victim who is now under serious medical treatment at JNIMS.
The warden will also produce a domestic pig in five customary measurements on or before August 16, 2014 .
During the 5th joint consultative sitting held August 13 at Senapati, the ZU and Maram Union have decided to impose highest degree as per customary laws to amicably resolve the case.
While acknowledging the contribution of all stake holders to resolve the situation, the final verdict of two Unions will be final and binding and any further interference and intervention from any groups or agencies either Governmental or Non-Governmental will not be entertained in public interest.
The statement issued by ZU (AMN) and MU presidents Amu Kamei and Raisong added that the meeting began with a prayer from Maram Naga Baptist Church (MRNBA) executive Secretary Rev T Karang at MRNBA conference hall from 8:00 am till 3:00 pm on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the NPO, SDSA and SDWA after a meeting have jointly issued a statement in endorsing the decision of the Zeliangrong Union (Assam Manipur and Nagaland) and Maram Union.
The three bodies while appealing for expediting the case to be resolved at the earliest have also appealed to those Organizations to avoid any form of imposing extreme steps of calling bandh or protest against the issue.
Further, the NPO, SDSA and SDWA, while condemning the brutal assault of Ringsonbou Newmai, have called for mutually resolving the issue rather than interference and resorting to actions that can escalate the sensitive case.
We stand for communal harmony and mutual understanding among the parties or groups to come to amicable solution which is also the interest of the general public, it added.
