Fitting tributes paid to martyrs

Floral tributes and ceremonial lamps were offered to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 .
The commemorative function was organised by the Observation Committee on 123rd Patriots' Day Celebration.
The committee is a collective body of the All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj, All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup, Universal Mothers' Organisation and the Apunba Manipur Kanba Lup.
Volunteers of the four organisations first gathered at Yumjao Lairembi community hall, Wahengbam Leikai before they were led to Pheidabung, Sahid Minar by Keisham Taruni, Phanjoubam Sakhi, Soibam Momon and Ningthoujam Sorojini where they offered sacred lamps to Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General and other martyrs.
They offered sacred fire at Hicham Yaichampat, where the mortal remains of Bir Tikendrajit were put to rest.
Then they went to Konung Mamang traffic island and sacred lamps at the statue of Thangal General.
There they observed two minutes' silence as a mark of respect to the great souls of the martyrs.
