Silver medalist L Sarita feted

Imphal Block Congress Committee today organised a programme at Mayang Imphal Khuman Mini Stadium to felicitate L Sarita for winning a silver medal in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar presented a cash prize of rupees 50 thousand to L Sarita as a goodwill gesture for bring laurel to the State and expressed his hope that the silver medalist will deliver an outstanding performance in the Olympics.
Speaking at the function, Dr Kh Ratankumar asserted that the sportspersons of Manipur has been contributing a major part in representing the country in different international competitions all over the world.
He also lauded the silver medalist Sarita for her sacrifices for the motherland and determination to make the country proud despite her health complication during the Commonwealth Games.
The Works Minister added that the State Government is making every effort to provide the sportspersons better opportunities in future.
Construction of Sports Academy Complex, DOZO, with its aim to encourage Judo among the aspiring youths is underway and the Government is trying its best to complete the construction by March next year.
Effort to establish a boxing stadium under NEC has also been taken up, asserted the Works Minister.
Addressing the gathering, L Sarita stated despite having a child of her own, her passion and love for the game have never gone astray.
The support from the people and her never dying passion are the driving force behind her determination and hard work, Sarita added.
Manipur Boxing Amateur Association's Secretary Thoibi Salam; Mayang Imphal Municipal Council's Chairperson Th Rajmohon also attended the felicitation programme.
