BJP team takes up State issues with Union Ministers

Imphal, August 14 2014 :
A delegation of BJP Manipur Pradesh met Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport and Rural Development at his office chamber, Transport Bhawan , New Delhi on Tuesday and abreast the Union Minister on various issues of concerning the development and welfare of the people of Manipur.
Among the issues raised included improvement and development of the National Highways passing through Manipur in particular the-Imphal Jiribam Road.
The Union Minister reaffirmed that he will take up the matter and the work on these roads would be taken up on priority basis with target set under his direct supervision.
He also assured the delegation that he will visit Manipur in mid of October 2014 to oversee the actual situation in the State.
Agreeing to the proposal placed by delegation for immediate improvement/expansion of National Highways no.150 from Malom to Churchandpur, the Union Minister immediately directed the Union Secretary, Surface Transport Chhiber IAS to expedite from any available source of fund in presence of State delegates.
He also directed the Union Secretary to pay a visit to Manipur within a month and ask the State delegates to prepare a concrete Vision Document for Development of Manipur and submit the same to him so that he can forward it for consideration.
Furthermore, the Union Minister assured that he will extend all possible helps to Manipur from his side as much as possible.
It may be mentioned here that the NHAI formed National Highways Construction Limited (NHCL) recently to execute the construction works of National Highways especially for the Northeast region.
Earlier in the morning, the State delegates called on Shreed Nayak, Union Tourism and Culture Minister and submitted proposal for strengthening the Cultural Institutes/Centres in Manipur and extend possible assistance for the promotion of Art and Culture
in State.
The Union Minister assured to taken up all needful on the proposal of State delegates on priority, according to a statement issued by M Asnikumar Singh, State General Secretary (Adm), BJP Manipur Pradesh.
