Pre-paid power metre system mooted

Supporting the State Government's plan to introduce pre-paid power meter system in greater Imphal so as to streamline power revenue collection, DoNER Minister PS Ghatowar has assured Chief Minister Okram Ibobi that DoNER Ministry would extend all possible assistance towards the State Government's initiative.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and Chief Secretary DS Poonia called on the DoNER Minister today at New Delhi and they talked about improving power situation in greater Imphal area.
For this, the Chief Minister appealed to the DoNER Minister to sanction a special package under NLCPR for Manipur.
The Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary also submitted a proposal to PS Ghatowar for improving power situation in Manipur.
The Chief Secretary is scheduled to have another meeting with the DoNER Secretary, informed an official source.
An official team led by Chief Secretary also held separate meetings with Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health Devashish Pant and the Deputy Director General of Health Services.
The revised detailed project report submitted by the State Government for JNIMS was given approval during the meetings.
The official team held another meeting with Planning Commission member BK Chaturvedi who is in-charge of North East and Planning Commission Advisor Bromo Chowdhury.
The meeting deliberated on the projects being executed in Manipur.
The Planning Commission gave its assent to release funds for Loktak Conservation Project, Capitol Project, Sewerage Project, Mini Secretariats and Accelerated Power distribution and Reforms Programme.
For JNIMS, further funds would be released after submission of utilisation certificate for the fund released earlier.
In addition to the Chief Secretary, the State official team includes Principal Secretary (Works) Ram Muivah, PWD Chief Engineer Lokendro, PWD Additional Chief Engineer P Mukherjee, PWD SE Subhash, Health Commissioner Moses Chalai, Health Director Ibomcha, JNIMS Director Dr Shyamo and Planning Joint Director Indramani.
