Dr Meinya hopeful of more tourist inflow

Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya observed that tourists inflow to Manipur is bound to increase since the Protected Area Permit (PAP) has been lifted and also that there is need to develop the RKCS Art Gallery even more to attract more tourists to visit Manipur.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the 87th birth anniversary observance function of noted Manipuri painter RK Chandrajitsana Singh (RKCS) at the complex of RKCS Art Gallery, Keishamthong here today, Dr Meinya described RKCS as a talented painter and his art gallery of RKCS as treasure droves attracting many people from far and wide.
With lifting of PAP, the number of tourists coming to Manipur has increased and it is bound in increase in the days to come.
So, there is the need for proper development of the art gallery of RKCS.
Use of technology may also help in popularizing the art gallery all over the world, Dr Meinya suggested.
In his presidential address, Chairman of RKCS Museum of Arts and Crafts RK Gopalsana Singh recounted that RKCS died at the age of 80 and he had god-gifted talent in painting as well as in sculpting.
His father, Yumjaosana, was also a renowned painter of his time and left behind many significant paintings depicting the socio-economic condition of then Manipur.
President of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Prof N Tombi, who attended the function as Guest of Honour, observed that RKCS is a person whose name would remain etched in golden letter in history of Manipur.
At the outset of the function, the Chief Guest led the people in offering floral tributes to the photograph of RKCS.
A painting competition for school children was also organized to mark the occasion.
In Group-A of the competition, S Santosh of Kakching Wairi High School, Malemnganba Waikhom of Sishu Nishtha Niketan and Maibam Rohit of Mega Manipur School won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
In Group-B, Oinam Chingkheinganba of Maria Montessori, S Gyanendro of Tiny Tots Unique School and Duni Khaidem of Manipur Public School secured the first, second and third prize respectively while in Group-C, the top three prizes were respectively bagged by Anand of Eagle School, Indrajit of Brilliant Public School and Sanahal of Don Bosco School.
