Assembly building catches fire

Imphal, October 13 2011:
Some portions of the Assembly building, now under construction as part of the Capitol Project, caught fire and were partially burnt.
The fire originated at about 10.40 am today from a room on the posterior side of the building where air-conditioners and other accessories were kept.
As the building caught fire, personnel of 115th Bn BSF who have been guarding the project immediately informed Lamphel Police, said a BSF officer.

Lamphel Police, then conveyed the information to Fire Brigade who responded promptly and doused the fire with BSF personnel before it could spread to other rooms.
One official of Simplex company which is engaged in the construction work said that properties worth around Rs two lakhs have been destroyed by the fire.
