LJP alleges thrashing of supporters

State vice president of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Karam Shyam has alleged severe thrashing of local LJP supporters by one N Shinghajit and his accomplices.
Speaking to newspersons at his Karam Chajing residence today, Shyam said an election-related meeting for Langthabal assembly constituency was held at Haoreibi Sarungbam Shanglen community hall from around 6 pm till 10 pm.
As some LJP workers were returning home, N Shinghajit along with his younger brother N Git and about 11 other unidentified persons attired in security uniform launched the attack with Git firing several rounds from a small arm, Shyam claimed and informed that Shinghajit is preparing to contest the forthcoming assembly election on CPI ticket.
The incident is said to have taken place at Haoreibi Mayai Leikai near a SATJAL shed.
apart from the brothers, the unidentified persons, who had come in a Gypsy forced about five of the LJP workers to lie on the ground and started to beat them up leading to two of the victims admitted to Shija Hospital for treatment, he maintained and alleged that the unidentified persons used abusive language against some women supporters who had to take refuge at the nearby SATJAL shed.
Besides thrashing the political workers three Maruti vans bearing registration numbers MN01W/4512, MN01V/1933 and MN04A/6073 as well as an Autorickshaw have also been damaged by the attackers, the LJP State vice president contended.
He further informed that along with registering a complaint at Wangoi police station the damaged vehicles have been taken into custody by Wangoi police.
K Shyam, who will be LJP nominee of the assembly constituency in the upcoming general election made a fervent appeal to all concerned to refrain from violent acts in the future.
