Imphal, May 20 2020:
The Molnoi Area Welfare Council (MAWC) has refused to allow Pallel High School, Pallel to function as a Community Quarantine Centre (CQC) or Institutional Quarantine Centre.
Speaking to media persons, vice president of MAWC Lalam Mate pointed out that a CQC for Molnoi area has already been set up at the former 8MR Post.
MLA Korungthang and DC Tengnoupal had visited the Pallel High School with plans to set up another CQC at the school.
However, amidst strong protests by the residents of Molnoi area stating that it would be very close in proximity to the already existing quarantine centre, some quarantined people were moved to the school.
Moreover, the high school is not properly fenced and is located within a crowded residential space.
Essential shops and vegetable vendors are also opened within the area.
Owing to these reasons, the local residents are against the setting up of a quarantine centre in the high school.
The people of Molnoi has warned that if a CQC is set up in Pallel High School forcefully and against their wishes then strong actions will be taken up for which the Government should bear the all responsibility.
