Sit-in protests against liquor policy continue

Imphal, November 20 2022:
In continuation of its protest against the government's decision to legalise production and sale of liquor in the state, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in association with other organisations staged sit-in protests at various places on Sunday.
CADA along with All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and Nupi Weavers' Welfare Association, Tera Lukram Leirak jointly staged a sit-in protest at Tera Lukram Leirak Makha Leikai Pukhri Achouba community hall on Sunday.
In Imphal West district, similar sit-ins were staged jointly by CADA Imphal West District Committee, Nupi Samaj and Uripok Huidrom Leikai Women's Development Association at Uripok Huidrom Leikai; by Nupi Samaj, Nganuleima Women's Development Association and CADA at Uripok Khaidem Leikai; and by CADA, Nupi Samaj, Iroisemba Apunba Nupi Lup and Iroisemba Youtn Development Club at the premises of Youth Development Association, Iroishemba.
In Kakching district, The Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), Hiyanglam Meira Paibi, Nupi Samaj and CADA jointly staged a sit-in protest at Hiyanglam.
During these sit-ins, the protestors held placards inscribed with slogans like "What is hygienic liquor?", "Will liquor legalisation stop crime?", "No to sale and brewing of liquor", "Is revenue more important than human life?", "Will removing prohibition be better?", etc.
