Awareness prog on breast cancer, diabetes held

Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL), Manipur; Chhabi Sahayong Foundation Manipur Prant; Dev-Desh Samajik Pratisthan; and Lizard Library, Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak jointly organised breast cancer awareness, screening and health camp at Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak on Sunday.
The awareness cum health camp was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba, social welfare minister Heikham Dingo, Lizard Library president Nongmaithem Hari, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson L Bashanta Sharma, Dev-Desh Samajik Pratisthan representative Dr Viabhav Deogirkar among others.
Speaking at the event, MP Sanajaoba stressed on the need for the citizens to seek advise of medical professionals and early diagnosis in case of the slightest suspicion so as to save precious lives.
Noting out that breast cancer is common among women, he said as it could be treated easily if detected early women folk should not hesitate for screening of breast cancer.
Meanwhile, Young Sports cum Library Club, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Lions Club of Imphal Valley and LC Imphal North & LC Imphal Northern Hemisphere conducted diabetes awareness and detection cum health check-up camp at Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Lamlong on Sunday.
In a release, Lions Club of Imphal Valley president Sukh-vinder Singh informed that 56 people were screened for blood sugar along with health checkup & BP monitoring during the camp, out of which 15 of them were found to be suffering from Type II diabetes and 33 others from hypertension.
The clubs have decided to conduct diabetes detection and awareness camp at different localities for the next couple of months in order to spread the message of "Knock out Diabetes", he added.
