Sangai Festival: Cycle rally held; film event from Nov 24

Manipur Tourism Corporation Private Limited chairman and Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam and Rajya Sabha MP & titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sa-najaoba flagged off a bicycle rally in connection with the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 from Hapta Kangjeibung to Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba informed that the bicycle rally has been organised with the objective of spreading the message of peace and health among the youth of the state in connection with the tourism festival of the state.
It is also an initiative to promote the festival, he said while wishing the festival a grand success.
In his address, MLA Karam Shyam said that the bicycle rally would cover 58 kilometres and is being participated by renowned cyclists and cycle lovers of the state.
It also carries the message to protect the state animal Sangai and to promote peace and unity among the indigenous communities of the state, the MLA said and appealed to the people to join the festival.
He also called upon the youth to cultivate the habit of using bicycle in their daily life.
Around 500 youths including film actress and Sangai Festival brand ambassador Soma Laishram participated in the rally.
Meanwhile, Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) would be hosting Sangai Film Festival 2022 as a part of Manipur Sangai Festival at MSFDS auditorium from November 24 to 28.Addressing a press meet in this connection at MSFDS auditorium, here, on Sunday, Society's executive board member Makhonmani Mongsaba informed that 19 feature and non-feature films of the state will be screened during the five-day festival.
Entry will be free and the eastern gate of MSFDS will be opened for the convenience of the visitors, he said.
Visitors can park their vehicles at the designated parking spaces for Sangai Festival or any other un-restricted location as per their convenience.
SN Chand Museum, where the history of Manipuri cinema will be showcased, will also be inaugurated during the festival, he informed, while urging the people of the state to visit the festival and enjoy the films.
The films to be screened in the festival include Romi Meitei's 'Eikhoigee Yum', Homeshwori's 'Ima Machet Icha Tangkhai', Haobam Pabankumar's 'Nine Hills One Valley', Gyan's 'Hiyainu' & OC Meira's 'Aronba Waree' in the feature film section, and James Khangembam's 'Meiram', Ratan Saikhom's 'Beyond Blast' and Haobam Pabankumar's 'Pabung Shyam' among others in the non-feature film section.
