Anniversary meet stresses unity of indigenes

Enat Yokhat Lup (EYL) celebrated its first foundation day at Gandhi Memorial Hall (GM Hall), here, on Saturday.
Presided over by EYL president Pukhrambam Oken Meetei, the celebration was also attended by Manipur University of Culture (MUC) vice chancellor Dr Paonam Gunindro as chief guest while Apunba Manipur Huyen Lanlong Lup president Okram Manglem Meetei, Kabui Union Manipur president Dr K Heera Kabui, Southern Tangkhul Aze, Longfang vice chairman Angam Tangkhul, Maring Uparup Assembly acting president Kansham Yaima and Yaithou Chiru chairman Thoirisong Sevan Raja were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Gunindro pointed out that as Manipur has been home for different communities living harmoniously, the state resembles a beautiful garden of different customs and cultures of the numerous communities.
Stressing the need for unity among the different communities, he said that the communities should fight together against the idea of disunity and work for ensuring equal development and progress.
Dances of different communities were performed during the celebration.
