College student among 6 held with drugs

Imphal, March 27 2022:
Manipur Police on Sunday arrested six persons from different places with huge quantity of drugs.
A team of Imphal West Commando apprehended a man with illegal drugs from Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai around 5pm on Sunday.
The arrested man has been identified as Laishram Ajoy alias Yaiton (24) s/o (L) Manao of Terakhongsangbi Awang Leikai, but presently residing at Khwairakpam Leikai.
According to a police re port, the team was conducting a search operation during which 2 soap caps containing Heroin (24gm in total), 34 vials containing Heroin (84gm in total), 12 mobile phones, Rs 41,410 in cash, 107 empty vials, one Aadhaar card and one ID, were recovered from the room rented by Ajoy.
On questioning, Ajoy revealed that he is currently a BA 6th semester student at Imphal College and he began dealing in drugs 8 months ago.
Both Ajoy and the seized drugs have been handed over to Imphal PS for further course of legal action.
Meanwhile, a police team led by Narcotics Cell Jiribam ASI A Krishna arrested one MD Ajmir (26), son of MD Ajman of Sora Mamang Leikai on Saturday around 11:30 pm and recovered brown sugar from a vehicle he was driving.
The Jiribam police team on frisking and checking duty near Drivers' Union Jiribam office, Leingangpokpi village stopped a Toyota Innova (ASO1AW-9570) coming from Imphal.
The vehicle driven by MD Ajmir was searched in the presence of additional SP (Ops) AK Sadananda and recovered 25 soap caps containing brown sugar hidden in a false chamber in the fuel tank weighing approximately 316.62 gm.
The arrested man, seized drugs and the vehicle have been handed over to Jiribam police station for further legal action.
A joint team of Imphal West District Police Commando and Wangoi police station also seized 23 gm of heroin stored in 24 vials, along with 320 empty vials and Rs 90,000 in cash from three people identified as MD Piktru, Sakina and N Sanathoi.
On the other hand, a team of Kakching District Police Commando while conducting a frisking and checking operation at Pallel Commando out-post around 2 pm on Sunday tried to stop a Maruti Gypsy (MN04P-0670) .
However, on seeing the police team, the Gypsy sped away but was chased by the police team.
The vehicle was later found abandoned near Axis Bank, Kakching and the driver fled away.
The team then conducted searches in the nearby areas during which it detained one Sneha Thounaojam, wife of Sarungbam Yoihenba of Patsoi Part II presently staying at Pallel Lamkhai.
The team also searched the vehicle and recovered 723 gm of heroin kept in 63 soap caps.
On interrogation, Sneha confessed that the drugs belonged to her.
Consequently, she was arrested and handed over to Kakching police station along with the seized drugs and the Gypsy for initiating further legal action.
