2nd Epathoukok Kombirei Festival organised

The 2nd Epathoukok Kombirei Festival, 2022 was held at Epathoukok community hall, Naoremtheng in Imphal West district on Sunday.
The festival organised by Epathoukok was held with Uripok MLA Th Raghumnani Singh, Art & Culture commissioner M Joy Singh and Epathoukok president S Ibomcha as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Raghumani said that it is important to hold such event as advancement of a country is based on the development of culture, without which bringing development of the society would remain elusive.
He also commended the initiative taken by the organisation and said that it is the responsibility of all to protect and preserve the endangered species of Kombirei indigenous flower plants.
He also assured to do whatever is necessary for the protection and preservation of the rare species Kombirei.
In his address, Art & Culture commissioner M Joy Singh said that nurturing, protecting and preserving of indigenous flower is very much important for future generation.
He appreciated the people living nearby the areas of Epathoukok for their initiative and conducting such programme for awareness and protection of the Kombirei flower plant from diminishing and to ensure seasonal blooming of the flowers.
He also urged the people to shoulder the responsibility for preservation of the flowers to protect the culture and tradition of Manipur.
ICAR chief technical officer Dr Sanjoy and Dr N Debendra also spoke about the history of Kombirei and made the gathering aware to about the importance of protection of the flowers.
During the festival, spot painting competition was also conducted and certificates and cash awards distributed to 35 participants by the chief guest.
Certificate and memento were also given to NG College (Retd) principal K Tombi Singh who has been Working for the welfare of Epathoukok organisation.
Various artistes presented Khulang Eshei and Khunung Eshei as a part of the function.
