First alumni meet of College of Agriculture concludes

The First Alumni Meet of the College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal was concluded today at the hall of CAU.
The alumni meet which will be held for two days is sponsored by the Institutional Development Plan-National Agricultural Higher Education Project (IDP-NAHEP), New Delhi.
The formation of an alumni association was announced during the programme and the alumni from different batches were honoured and presented with gifts.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr S Basanta Singh, Director (Instruction), CAU, Imphal underscored the importance of alumni as they play a major role towards the development of an institution.

He went on to state that the significance of an institution/college/university is also based on the success of the alumni.
Further expressing happiness on the achievements and success of the alumni of the college, he said that many of them are in respectable positions in Government and private sectors.
Apart from the above, many have become successful entrepreneurs and are also pursuing higher studies in reputed institutes, he added.
Dr S Basanta Singh also informed that CAU, Imphal is one of the largest agricultural universities in the country which has 13 constituent colleges in the Northeastern States except Assam and is placed in 13th position out of 73 agricultural universities in ICAR, 2020 ranking.
He also called for concerted efforts from all the alumni to make the college one of the premier colleges in the country.
Recounting his experiences as a student of the varsity, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal said that planning are underway to strengthen and revamp the university to ensure that it becomes a world class university.
The programme was also graced by Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal, Professor Indira Sarangthem, Dean of College of Food Technology, Dr Ng Joykumar Singh and former senior program executive of All India Radio, M Biramani as the presidium members.
