Imphal, June 18 2026:
After three injured Kuki men were shifted from RIMS and taken to Churachandpur district hospital a fire broke out at the hospital last night and it was suspected that the hospital was deliberately set on fire by some unknown miscreants.
Sources said that the incident might be related to the admission of three injured Kuki militants who were shifted there from RIMS yesterday.
Notably, some sections of people in Churachandpur have voiced opposition to the admission and treatment of the Kuki militants in the district hospital.

A tense situation unfolded at different parts of Churachandpur soon after the three Kuki militants were brought to the hospital on June 17 morning.
Later in the night, fire broke out in some sections of the hospital and it was suspected that the fire was not accidental, said the sources.
According to the sources, some unknown miscreants also tried to storm the operation theatre of the hospital and tried to vandalise hospital properties.
The unknown miscreants also looted some properties of Churachandpur District Hospital during the incident.
Incidentally, authorities re-painted the walls today itself which were charred and damaged by the fire last night.
The Churachandpur Doctors' Association has expressed deep concern over the 'recent unfortunate incidents' which occurred within the premises of Churachandpur District Hospital as well as the burglary reported at the office of the Chief Medical Officer.
Pointing out that the district hospital is the first referral Government hospital serving the people of Churachandpur and its neighbouring districts, the association has appealed to the public to maintain peace, exercise restraint and cooperate in preserving the sanctity of the hospital environment.
