CCpur Medical College gets LoP for MBBS course

Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) has issued 'Letter of Permission' (LoP) for starting MBBS course at Churachandpur Medical College, the second state government-run medical college.
The 'Letter of Permission' addressed to dean/principal of Churachandpur Medical College informed that the state government owned medical institute could start MBBS course for 100 seats from the academic session 2022-23 under Manipur University.
It said that college author ities may take up the matter for recognition of the qualification under section 35(2) of the Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act at the time of first batch admitted against the sanctioned intake appears of final examination with National Medical Commission.
The permission for starting MBBS course and admission of students will be for such time the first batch of students admitted against the course appears for the final examination in the subject.
The 'Letter of Permission' informed that the institute is fully responsible to fulfil and maintain norms including infrastructure both physical and human resource, teaching faculty and clinical material, etc., throughout the academic year, as stipulated in Regulation of National Medical Commission (NMC).
In case of false/wrong declaration or fabricated documents used for procuring permission of the MARB and the said misconduct is brought to the notice of NMC or found during surprise assessment at any stage during the current academic year, the institution will be liable and not considered for recognition of the degree.
Consequently, the 'Letter of Permission' will be revoked.
Besides, National Medical Commission (NMC) is entitled to take all such measure against institution as permissible under the law, it added.
The LoP further said that the institution is mandatory to develop biometric attendance, website of the medical college/institution and display all the information of the college, courses offered, faculty available and their experience of the last 5 years, students joined and affiliating university.
The institution is also mandatory to display the hospital services, facilities available and equipment in each speciality and show OP and IP census including births and deaths as per the municipal/government records.
The 'Letter of Permission' issued on August 3 consequent to a virtual hearing conducted by MARB said that the permission for opening MBBS course was given after assessing infrastructures, laboratory, library, hostel, hospital, faculties, nurses and other related paramedical staff.
It also said that MARB discussed report and remark submitted by an expert group on opening the institution.
It further said that the institution must provide adequate infrastructures, teaching and non-teaching staff, building, equipment and hospital facilities as per norms of NMC.
It also said that admission for no course other than MBBS will be allowed without formal permission and budget allocation for establishing the medical college must be made known.
Just as being practised at government medical colleges, the institution must have an undertaking with under-graduate students doing internship for providing stipend.
The 'Letter of Permission' further said that circular about admission of students at the institution and details must be informed to the commission from time to time and the decision of increasing seat capacity as per condition will solely be decided by MARB.
