Imphal, August 10, 2013:
In a public meeting held on 9th August, Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association (KKSDDA) along with headmen and secretaries, Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang, students activist, pastors, social leaders, intellectuals and others of the sub-division decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister and other concerned authorities regarding the ADB- sponsored double-laning of Tupul-Kasom Khullen road and other developmental projects in the area.
Condemning the state government's decision to defer construction work along Tupul-Kasom Khullen road, a release from KKSDDA stated that delay or cancellation of the work will deeply hurt the sentiment of the people of the area and keep them alienated from the mainstream.
"This will neither be in the interest of the state nor that of us.
The distance from Imphal to Wanglee/Namlee village is about 95 Km, which is shorter than the distance between Imphal to Moreh.
So the state government should give first priority to development of Tupul-Kasom Khullen road," KKSDDA said.
It also appealed to open border trade centre at Wanglee/Namplee village to boost not only the Indo-Myanmar economic growth but to meet the long felt needs, aspiration and interest of the people living in border areas of both the countries.
Furthermore, KKSDDA pressed for taking prompt and necessary action for the inauguration of Kasom Khullen SDO office, whose construction work had been completed long ago, to enable the proper functioning of the government staffs at the administrative headquarters on regular basis.
