Fresh Covid infections, TPR drop further

Imphal, February 06 2022:
The state continues to see gradual decline in daily fresh cases and test positivity rate since the last seven days.
Sunday reported 201 new positive cases of Covid 19 out of 2008 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus, registering a positivity rate of 10.01 per cent against 12.36 per cent recorded on Saturday.
However, the daily test capacity remains static around the 2000 mark.
Sunday also recorded four death cases which took the fatality toll to 2063 .
They were residents of Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
All of them were unvaccinated people.
So far, the virus has claimed lives of 170 vaccinated people including 48 who had received second doses.
In the last 24 hours, 204 patients were discharged from home isolation (157), RIMS(9), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (33) .
The active caseload came down to 3786 out of which 988 (26.10 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 229 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 138 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only three did not reported any fresh Covid cases on Sunday.
So far, the state has recorded 9074 positive cases and 61 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 1606 new positive cases and 17 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 1952 and 22 respectively.
According to official reports, the 201 fresh cases included 196 people (95 male & 101 female) from among the general population and 5 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were at RIMS (32), JNIMS (21) and other testing centres (148).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (58), Imphal West (75), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (8), Kangpokpi (2), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (4), Ukhrul (3), Noney (1), Senapati (5), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (9) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,34,862 (general population - 1,29,884 and CAPF personnel - 4,978) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,29,013 (general population - 1,24,173 and CAPF personnel - 4,840) and number of active cases is 3786 (general population - 3655 and CAPF personnel - 131) .
The recovery rate is 95.66 per cent.
A total of 246 D-type and 96 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Whereas 12,890 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 14,57,095 out of which 10,72,024 had received second doses and 39,033 had received precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (47,948), Imphal East (29,937), Thoubal (9987), Churachandpur (10,937), Kangpokpi (3076), Tamenglong (3405), Bishnupur (9635), Senapati (2433), Ukhrul (3168), Kakching (6767), Chandel (2661), Noney (1134), Tengnoupal 1172), Jiribam (1109), Kamjong 1028) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (690), Imphal East (494), Thoubal (182), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (65), Tamenglong (15), Bishnupur (199), Senapati (11), Ukhrul 48}, Kakching (120), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (l4), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 43,462 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,099 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,96,182 tests per million population against the national average of 5,28,085 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.53 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2008 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 10.01 per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.76 per cent.
