Governor, CM to grace Orange Fest at Noney on Dec 14

The 10th Edition of state level Orange Festival will be celebrated with great pomp and show at Longmai (Noney), Nungba sub- division, Tamenglong district on December 14 with Governor of Manipur and Nagaland Dr Ashwani Kumar as the chief guest while Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh will be the functional president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as chief host.
Phungjathang Tonsing, Minister (Health & FW/ GAD/ CADA), Ngamthang Haokip, Minister (IFCD, Printing and Stationery), I.Hemochandra Singh, Minister (PHED/ Labor & Employment, Francis Ngajokpa, Minister (RD & PR/ Eco & Stats), Govindas Konthoujam, Minister (Commerce & Indus/ Seri/Vety & AH), Md.Abdul Nasir, Minister (Agri and fisheries) will be the Guests of Honour, according to media convenor of the programme Ramkung Pamei.
Features of the celebration include Orange Competition, Cultural items by invited cultural troupes from Imphal West, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur and Chandel and Rongmei Cultural Dance troupe.
Craft exhibition and sale will be organized by the Directorate of Commerce and Industries and DIC Tamenglong.
The Orange Queen Contest will be held on December 14 evening.
No contestant who had contested earlier would be allowed to contest again.
Screening of contestants would be held at Imphal, for which the date and venue would be announced later.
As part from the Orange festival, a seminar on Orange Plantation would be conducted for villagers of Longmai area on December 14.Orange Eating Competition will also be be organized on December 14 and Music and rock bands from different parts of the state and outside will perform on December 13 and 14 evenings, according to Ramkung Pamei.
Preparation works is going on in war- footing manner by the concerned sub- committees formed for this festival.
The organising committee has invited all to participate in the celebration.
"We also further requested all concerned organizations not to call bandh, strike or any form of agitation which may jeopardize the organization and participation of public in the festival," Ramkung Pamei appealed.
