Imphal, May 13 2015 :
The Welfare Club (TWC), Sagolband Tera Akham Leikai has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi in connection with the assault on a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police on May 10 .
In the memo, the club highlighted resolutions taken during a meeting held at TWC premises.
TWC while demanding a probe into the incident said that the culprits should be "arrested immediately and their identities made known to the public" besides framing of charge sheet of the case for enabling a speedy trial.
The club also wants to add another case of "outraging the modesty and dignity of the wife" of the SI and said adequate compensation should be paid by the perpetrators of the crime for the "mental shock and trauma" suffered by the wife and children of the SI.
While demanding termination of services for all those involved, TWC stated that the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly "should be stripped of his speakership immediately for remaining as a mute spectator to the illegal and heinous act" .
The club also alleged that the "gold chain and mobile phone" of SI were "snatched and confiscated by the armed escort personnel" involved and demanded compensation for the SI's vehicle damaged in the incident.
TWC said no retributive action should be taken against the career of the SI as a fall-out of the incident.
TWC has also rubbished that claim made in the counter-FIR/police case lodged against the SI and termed it as "false and concocted charges" .
