Kakching, May 13 2015 :
A large number of women fish vendors stormed the house of Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC) chairperson at Thoubal Atokpam Makha Leikai early on Wednesday morning, demanding a clear-cut solution to the current impasse over allocation of fish stalls in Thoubal Keithel.
The TMC chairperson's house is located close to the home of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
The women vendors later held a sit-in protest at the Athokpam Makha Leikai Khurak Lamdaibung community hall located near the home of CM Ibobi.
A Thoubal Police team led by SDPO Sanker Dev arrived at the scene and maintained a strict vigil in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
But a scuffle ensued between the police and the women demonstrators who were later driven away from the protest site by women police personnel.
But they hang around the area in
small groups.
But TMC chairperson Bijen pacified the agitating women fish vendors and allowed them to meet him at the council office to discuss the matter after which they dispersed.
