ADC polls Ibobi reviews security situation

Chief Minister O Ibobi today convened a meeting and discussed about the security situation with Congress MLAs elected from the hill districts in connection with the ensuing ADC election.
Threats posed to candidates by Naga UG groups as well as Kuki militants were also deliberated at the meeting where Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Gaikhangam was also present.
The Congress MLAs briefed the Chief Minister about the security situation in their respective constituencies and they urged the Chief Minister to take up adequate security measures.
On the other hand, it is reported that maximum number of candidate are contesting in Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts with 95 candidates in fray in each of the two districts.
Of the 95 candidates contesting the ADC election in Ukhrul, 23 are BJP candidates, INC 24, NPF 23, 24 Independents and Others 1 .
The number of BJP candidates in Churachandpur is 23 while INC is fielding seven candidates.
69 independent candidates and one Others are also in the fray.
Numbers of candidates fielded by different parties in Chandel are BJP 17, INC 17, JD-U 2 and 36 Independents.
The corresponding figures for Sadar Hills are BJP 22, INC 21, NPF 8, 27 Independents and Others 6.For Senapati, the corresponding figures are BJP 17, INC 4, NPF 19 and 13 Independents.
For Tamenglong, the number of candidates put up by different political parties are BJP 23, INC 18, NPF 18, 18 Independents and Others 1 .
Already, seven INC candidates, four NPF candidates and one BJP candidate have been declared elected unchallenged.
