CCpur, May 10 2022:
Collapse of a bailey bridge constructed over Tuivai river along the Guite Road (NH-150 A) some days back and poor shape of the bridge between Leizangphai and Tallian village along Tipaimukh road have totally cut off people living in interior areas of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts from the rest of the state.
Deeply concerned over the emerging situation and eminent famine like situation in the affected areas of the two districts as connectivity and food supply from Churachandpur town remains cut off, Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte convened a meeting with district officials and NHIDCL officials from 3.30 pm Tuesday at the conference hall of DC Churachandpur office and apprised the officials about gravity of the situation.
The meeting chaired by Vungzagin was attended by DC Churachandpur Pawan Yadav, DGM NHIDCL Churachandpur Anil Kumar and other officials of NHIDCL namely Pankaj Srivastava and Khaikhopau Ngaihte.
During the meeting, MLA Vungzagin apprised officials of the National' Highway Infrastructural Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) engaged in the construction of both Guite and Tipaimukh roads that people living in Thanlon areas have been cut off from rest of the state after the collapse of Bailey bridge over Tuivai river between Sinzawl and Khuanggin village.
He also informed the officials that another lifeline for people of the areas too remains cut off as the already worn out bridge between Leizangphai and Tallian village cannot be used while the diversion bridge was washed away by the rising river water level.
The MLA also questioned NHIDCL officials about reasons behind delay in completion of the bridge over Tuipi river along Tipaimukh road though it was targeted for completion by May, 2022.He then talked to the contractor concerned over phone during the meeting and gave strong instruction to complete the bridge by June.
On the recent collapse of the bridge over Tuivai river, the MLA held the NHIDCL accountable for damage caused to the bridge between Sinzawl and Khuanggin village stating that the company's two trucks weighing 20 tonne plied at a time thereby resulting in collapse of the bridge.
The MLA then instructed NHIDCL officials to construct a bailey bridge over Tuivai river before June 30 for use till completion of RCC bridge.
On the progress of bailey bridge and RCC bridge construction, he informed BIPL company which works under NHIDCL to submit progress reports to DC Churachandpur along with photos and video clips.
He also instructed NHIDCL officials to supervise works properly not to keep themselves subservient to labourers.
