MP Phoze calls for communal harmony

Lok Sabha MP for outer Manipur parliamentary constituency Dr Lorho S Pfoze stressed the need for promotion for cordial co-existence to facilitate development of a vibrant and progressive state.
Inaugurating a playground of Japhou Model village in Chandel district headquarters developed under his MP local area development fund (29-14-20) bn Tuesday, the MP said that the village is being developed into a model village under Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) and the playground is part of the programme.
Development initiatives under the scheme is taken up by the villagers along with district level officers through consultation and discussion, Dr Lorho said while conveying that as the area of coverage under his jurisdiction is large he cannot utilise large fund in a particular area.
The MP, however, assured to do whatever he could to address the issues besieging the people and called upon residents of a model village to shoulder social responsibilities and participate in public welfare activities while inculcating civic sense in order to make the village an ideal village.
Manipur is a state of different communities and there has been a sense of disconnect among different communities, the parliamentarian noted and stated that it is high time to pull down the walls among the communities and work towards bringing communal harmony while helping one another in order to make Manipur a strong and developed state.
Chandel district was declared as an aspirational district due to its backwardness and it is getting additional opportunities from the government.
The public need to take advantage of the government's initiatives to accelerate development of the district, he added.
In his address, Chandel DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar said that the central government has sanctioned a new project called Cluster Facilitation Project in order to enable proper implementation of government schemes in the district.
Project experts would be assessing the areas where proactive works are needed to bring improvement so that the target of sustainable development could be achieved.
Several project experts are visiting the district to assess the situation, he said while urging the village authorities and residents to cooperate with the experts.
Japhou Model Village Committee convenor and ADC Chandel former member Sh Manglem Monsang presided over the inauguration function, which was also attended by CDO Chandel Naorem Pritam, Japhou village chief Ng Maipakngam and Japhou Baptist Church pastor reverend Sh Shrimon.
