Imphal, May 10 2022:
While pointing out that construction of science laboratory, library and computer rooms of Saiton government high school was not in compliance with the prescribed work quality, Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has announced ban on the school project.
The Union also held the contractor concerned and engineer cell responsible for undermining quality control.
In a release, SSUM publicity secretary Salam Inaoyaima informed that it inspected the school and found non-adherence to quality control in construction of the school infrastructure.
There is no reason not to consider such act as enemy of the society, he maintained.
The secretary pointed out that unwashed and poor quality sand was used in the construction while depth of the foundation is shallow.
He further urged the education minister to look into the matter.
While stating that the non-completion of quarters for the teachers is causing serious inconveniences, he also stressed the need for the minister concerned and the local MLA to oversee the project.
