Imphal, May 10 2022:
Detailed Project Report (DPR) of an elevated highway which would run from Koirengei to Nityaipat Chuthek before diverging to Imphal Airport along Tiddim Road and Lilong Bridge over Imphal-Moreh Highway has been finalised.
According to information received from State PWD (NH Division), DPR for the elevated highway which would be constructed over National Highways has been finalised and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways would certainly approve the DPR.
The elevated highway which would connect Nityaipat Chuthek to Lilong after passing through the traffic point of the Chief Minister's bungalow would have another arm which would extend till Pureilomba Khongnangkhong in Imphal East across Imphal River.
This extension would affect some portions of the areas currently occupied by different departments likes Forest, Veterinary etc.
The elevated highway would also require acquisition of land at Singjamei market as well as Chingmeirong near the Assembly complex.
As such, due process for land acquisition has been initiated, sources informed.
However, the elevated highway would require little land acquisition at other points as the highways over which it would be built have the standard width of four lanes.
Even if the affected area is very small, due process of land acquisition cannot be skipped.
As such, it would take some time, the sources added.
