VDF personnel aided; rewarded

Imphal, May 10 2022:
A team of Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association executive members led by deputy SP (CDO) Thoubal L Santosh Singh on Tuesday visited the house of a deceased VDF member at Khangabok Part III, Lamlong Bazar, and extended monetary assistance of Rs 2 lakh to Laishram (o) Bimola Devi, wife of the deceased personnel.
The deceased VDF was posted at Moirangpali check post and died on May 2 .
The team also provided Rs 10,000 to another VDF member namely M Premchand Singh, who is undergoing treatment for an illness.
In a release, Welfare Association publicity secretary Konsam Bikram Singh informed that the assistance was provided under Thoubal District VDF Welfare Fund which was raised through contributions of VDF personnel.
Meanwhile, DGP Manipur P Doungel in the presence of SP Imphal East M Pradip Singh and other senior officers presented cash reward of Rs 20,000 to five VDF personnel namely Sarangthem Prabhat Kumar Singh, Irom Somokanta, Heitam Benson, Thounaojam Roshan Singh and Anand Sagolsem in appreciation of their exceptional performance of duty during the IED blast at the residence of Agriculture Department EE RK Birendra at Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai on May 6 .
The cash reward was handed over in a simple function held at Imphal East Police DHQ on Monday.
In a release, All Manipur VDF Welfare Association Central Committee publicity secretary MD Sirajuddin appreciated the senior police officers for recognising duty performed by the VDF personnel.
The secretary also urged the government to approve the demands of VDF for providing service book, timely increase of honorarium, service security, etc., at the earliest.
