Imphal, May 10 2022:
Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) caretaker mayor L Lokeshwar has announced that action would soon be taken up against shops under the jurisdiction of the Corporation, which do not possess shop registration license.
Addressing a press meet at IMC's Kanglapat Road office on Tuesday, Lokeshwar informed that action would be initiated against shops which are under the jurisdiction of the Corporation but not in possession of the shop registration license, through drives scheduled to be carried out after May 25.Any shops which have not yet registered should do so at IMC within 15 days, he advised, while adding that shops without the registration license should not bear any resentment if they are caught during the drive and face action.
The caretaker mayor then said that IMC has been appealing to the public not to dump garbage carelessly.
The ongoing drives being carried out to apprehend people, who litter public places, will continue, he stated, while urging the public to extend their cooperation to IMC in maintaining cleanliness in Imphal City, for the city is the face of the state and its people.
Regarding the ban on street vendors in Khwairamband market from 8am onwards, Lokeshwar stated that the restriction is an attempt to reduce the messiness in Imphal city and facilitate the movement of people in the market area.
He then appreciated Imphal West Police and City Police for their help in enforcing the ban.
On the other-hand, he clarified that IMC has not issued any allotment notification on the ongoing construction of 300 shops on the upper floors of the three Khwairamband Ima markets.
As such, it is unfortunate to learn of allegations in some dailies that some people are collecting money for the plots.
IMC has no connection with the people collecting money.
If this report of collecting money is true, both the payee and the receiver will face huge troubles, he cautioned and affirmed that any IMC staff or corporator found involved in the state will be liable for strict action.
