Imphal, October 09 2021:
BJP National president JP Nadda arrived here Saturday on a two-day state visit and met with state BJP leaders in connection with the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
JP Nadda was warmly welcomed by CM N Biren, ministers and MLAs, along with numerous BJP workers from various constituencies on his arrival at Tulihal airport.
He then took part in a scrumptious indigenous feast alongside the CM, BJP state president A Sharda, National Executive member and Works minister Th Biswajit, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Education minister S Rajen and other MLAs at the residence of Utlou 24/3 BJP Booth president K Sanahal in Nambol AC.
After the feast, Nadda attended a public meeting at Utlou Kangjeibung, which was attended by Ajay Jamwal, Sambit Patra and other party leaders.
Speaking at the meeting, Nadda contended that significant changes have been brought in the state under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM N Biren, which has given birth to a new Manipur.
He then said that the present generation needs to a take a decision keeping in mind the future generation, for any wrong decision will lead to the ruin of the society.
The numerous works undertaken by PM Modi is enabling India to compete with the developed countries.
Regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, the national president said that when the pandemic struck India in 2020, PM Modi mobilised task forces and led the scientists to develop a vaccine within 9 months, while further launching the biggest mass vaccination campaign in the world.
The country would have vaccinated a total of 100 crore people within the next 4/5 days, he added.
Nadda then lauded the vaccination efforts being made in the state including in the remote areas under the leadership of CM N Biren.
He continued that the state is already well known across the country for its sports talents, while mentioning the grant of Rs 5 lakh each to over 1000 students under Khelo India.
"Presently, North East India is on the road to development, thus earning the region the title, "Gateway of Development".
Arou nd 16 national highways in the region are undergoing development and the region is leading the nation in providing potable water tap under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Railways will also soon reach Imphal via Jiri by 2030 and over 300 projects including the National Sports University have been inaugurated.
Several women markets have been set up in the hill districts, along with other initiatives such as accommodation centres for government employees; LPG connections to 56 lakh households under UJJWALA scheme; distribution of LED lamps to cut down on electricity costs; launch of AB-PMJAY and CMHT", etc, he said, while praising CM N Biren for all these achievements.
Commenting on the warm welcome accorded to him at the Airport, Nadda said that the large gathering indicated the huge trust the people have on the party and thus, contended that the BJP government will once again return to power in the upcoming elections.
In his speech, CM Biren responded to queries on why the BJP government will return to power in 2022, stating that the government implemented the prolonged demand for implementation of ILPS without any serious issues or incidents including police brutality on students or general populace, needless deaths, etc.
Thus, PM and BJP leader Narendra Modi and party president JP Nadda have been able to lead the party in the state for working in line with the sentiments of the people, he contended.
The past four-and-half years have been without any serious incident which otherwise used to compel the mothers of the state to brave the cold nights outside their homes while waiting for their loved ones to return home safely.
BJP was able to bring about this peaceful change, while the previous governments acted, hypocritically and indulged in anti-communal tactics to win votes, he remarked.
Biren continued: "When the BJP government took power in the state, only 4.7 percent of the households had tap water connections.
However, the number has increased to 52 per cent during the pandemic and efforts are being taken up to raise it to around 80 percent before the polls" .
Questioning which political party has launched a scheme like AB-PMJAY that provides health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh, the CM said that with the launch of CMHT in the state, around 3.4 households have been benefitted and are no longer facing the trouble of medical expenses.
Meanwhile, around 10 women markets have been constructed in the hill districts, while two bridges have been constructed along Imphal-Jiri route, one of which will soon be inaugurated, he conveyed.
