Tree sapling plantation drives conducted at NIT, Kongba

The Lions Club of Imphal Greater organised a one-day tree plantation drive at the premises of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Lamphelpat today.
Altogether 88 fruit bearing tree saplings were planted in the said drive.
The program was participated by M Gojendra Singh, former District Governor of Lions Club International District 322D; L Upendro Sharma, President, Lions Club of Imphal Greater and other key members of the club.
L Upendro Sharma said that the drive was organised as a part of the Lions Club International's global cause- conservation and preservation of environment.
He further said that trees help our biodiversity, ensure the supply of oxygen for the next generations and provide us with various resources.
Separately, Sporting Association Kongba Maru (SAK), Khundrakpam Kendra Youth Organization (KHUKYO) in association with Kongba Maru Laiphamlen Apunba Semgat Lup today organised a cleanliness drive and tree sapling plantation in the surrounding areas of Kongba Maru Laipham Eekom.
It may be noted that the day's effort is part of the ongoing cleanliness drive and tree plantation initiative conducted in association with the Forest Department and under the Green Manipur campaign.
The cleanliness drive cum tree plantation was conducted in the areas of Sinam, Eshing Thembi, Esheikha and Yumnam Khunou.
