Panchayat Convention organised

Imphal, August 07 2022:
Institute of Development Studies Manipur in association with All India Panchayat Parishad, Delhi organised a Panchayat Convention on the theme of 'Panchayat and Rural Transformation' at the conference hall of Old Assembly Secretariat Building here on Sunday.
The convention was attended by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC MLA S Kebi Devi as chief guest and Institute of Development Studies Manipur chairperson Prof N Mohendro Singh as president while Imphal West adhyaksha Rk Taruni Devi, Imphal East adhyaksha P Bi-mola Devi, Thoubal adhyaksha Hasina Begum and Jiribam adhyaksha Kh Janaki Devi were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA S Kebi stressed on the importance of promoting development at the grassroots level i.e., in rural areas.
There is also the need of cooperation between elected members at the rural Panchayat level and local MLAs to accelerate development.
She then opined that as women members at Panchayat level seem to shoulder more responsibility, as indicated by the presence of women as member, pradhan, etc., all concerned need to work and cooperate with another.
Later, retired IAS K Rad-hakumar Singh spoke on the theme of convention as resource person.
