Two-day International seminar commences

Department of Dance & Music, Manipur University under the aegis of UGC Stride Component -1, New Delhi inaugurated a two-day long international seminar on the topic 'Defining Global Manipuri Community: Diaspora Perspective' at the Court Hall of Manipur University on Saturday.
The inaugural function was attended by Manipur University VC Prof N Lokendra Singh; DM University VC Prof N Rajmuhon Singh; School of Humanities, MU dean Prof N Aruna Devi and Department of Education MU head Associate Professor Dr Premlata Mais-nam as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Department of Dance & Music, MU head and UGC Stride Component-1 project co-ordinator Dr P Lilabati Devi informed that Diaspora perspective is a project initiated by UGC Stride and implemented in MU.
Academicians and resource persons from across India and abroad will take part in the seminar and help to theoretically define the conceptual framework of Manipuri Diaspora.
Additionally, efforts will be made to mingle with Manipuri Diaspora and discuss about our state's art, culture and tradition, and also how they navigate with the culture of the places they have settled in.
Resource persons from Manipur, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Tripura and Assam will also speak on various topics during the seminar, she added.
