Covid claims three more lives, infects 33

Imphal, August 06 2022:
On Saturday, the state witnessed three more Covid fatalities and detected 33 new cases, out of 493 samples tested, thereby registering 6.7 per cent positivity rate.
With the three fatalities, 16 people have died due to Covid since the beginning of fourth wave in the state.
The three Covid victims were from Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts.
Out of the three, two had co-morbidities and one had taken second dose of Covid vaccine and another received the precautionary dose.
Out of 33 new cases (15 male &, 18 female), 9 are from Imphal East, 8 from Imphal West, 4 from Churachandpur, 3 each from Thoubal and Ukhrul, one each from Bishnupur, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Tengnoupal and Noney districts.
Out of 51 people who recovered from the viral disease on Saturday, 44 were discharged from home isolation, 2 from RIMS, 1 from JNIMS and 4 from SHRI.
The number of active cases in the state now stands at 276.In all, 29 Covid beds out of 38 in JNIMS are vacant and 43 out of 62 Covid beds remain vacant in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 2,083 positive cases and 16 deaths since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 254 new positive cases and seven fatalities.
As on Friday, 6,788 vaccine doses were administered, taking the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 31,29,521, out of which, 16,20,780 have taken the first dose, 12,91,728 second dose and 2,17,013 precautionary doses.
