BJP readies for I-Day, marathon on Aug 12

BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda has informed that a biggest marathon in the North East will be organised in Manipur in connection with the 75th year celebration of India's independence apart from flying the tricolour in every household of the state.
Premananda told media persons in a press conference on Saturday that the 75th year of India's independence is being celebrated for one year as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav throughout the country and the celebration which commenced on August 15, 2021 will conclude on August 15, 2022 .
To realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of hoisting tricolour flag atop more than 20 crore households of the country, a committee has been formed in respect of Manipur to spearhead Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, he said, adding that the committee has different teams at district and Mandal levels with chief minister N Biren Singh taking keen initiative to make the campaign a huge success.
P Premananda further said that intensive Har Ghar Thanga campaign as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will begin from August 9 till 15 and preparation has been made in all 12 organisational districts of the party to make the campaign a successful one.
From August 9 to 11, state level patriotic recitation, song and painting competitions will be held while cleanliness drive will be conducted at 65 historical places of the state on August 14 .
On August 12, chief minister N Biren Singh, BJP state unit president A Sharda Devi, ministers and MLAs will take part in a mega marathon from 7.30 am and it will be the biggest marathon in the North East.
The Marathon for both women and men categories will start from Maibam Lokpa Ching and conclude at Khuman Lampak where the tricolour will be hoisted.
Winners of the marathon for both the categories will be given Rs 1 lakh cash followed by Rs 50,000 for second and Rs 30,000 for third position holders, he added.
