Churachandpur, August 06 2022:
Unidentified miscreants attempted to loot District Transport Office, Churachandpur and set a few articles and old documents on fire early yesterday.
According to sources, the miscreants may have unsuccessfully targeted the Inspector (tax) chamber.
The unknown intruders failed to break down the door and despite signs of attempted entry in other locations, the chamber was found intact.
Reportedly, there were also signs of a fire beneath the door but it apparently failed to ignite inside the chamber.
The miscreants who managed to gain entry at the office hallway, however, set fire to a chair and desk aside from some old documents kept at the corridor.
The fire inside the transport office located at Bijang was reportedly first noticed by passers-by.
They, then, informed the police on duty at Tuibong, who in turn alerted the fire brigade and managed to douse the fire before much damage could be done.
The fire personnel along with the police had snapped the gate's chain lock to gain entry.
The district police has registered a case in this connection.
A forensic team has also been reportedly summoned to investigate the case while the police too, have gathered CCTV footage for further investigation.
