Imphal, August 06 2022:
Naga Students' Union, Chandel (NSUC) and its constituent units have endorsed the indefinite picketing of government offices at Chandel district headquarters which is being carried out in protest against the arrest of ATSUM leaders for speaking for the cause of tribal rights.
In a release, NSUC Information Cell demanded unconditional release of the arrested leaders at the earliest, while strongly condemning the Meetei LIPUL for sealing ATSUM office saying that such act is direct challenge to the tribal community of Manipur.
It is unfortunate that government of Manipur is planning to deprive the tribal right which is given by the Constitution of India under Article 371C.NSUC volunteers stand firm with ATSUM for the cause of tribalrights.
Every right-thinking tribal citizen within Chandel district should support ATSUM volunteers for the rights of tribals, it emphasised, while warning that strict action will be taken against any official who dares to confront the volunteers in near future.
NSUC termed as disheartening that a Bill has been put up by TA & Hills minister bypassing HAC rights.
"Without proper channel and without the consent of the tribal citizens, we cannot accept such imposition of Bill on the tribals.
We solely object such imposition of Bill, as India is a democratic country.
We will definitely move forward to protect our rights for the cause of our generation.
We look forward to full cooperation from Chandel district citizens.
Any person found tempering the pasted slogan will be met with strict action," it said.
