NPF secretary general Achumbemo Kikon has said that NPF is a political party not solely for the Naga people but for the welfare of entire tribal people of the region and the party is committed to safeguarding tribal rights, land protection and future of tribals.
Addressing a gathering at a public meeting organised as part of election campaign of party's Chandel AC candidate Langhu Paulhring Anal at Chakpikarong public ground on Saturday, Achumbemo Kikon said that NPF set foot in Manipur on May 28, 2011 and since then the party has been shouldering responsibility in big issues including tribal rights.
The party took part in Manipur state assembly election from 2012 but some people spread false information that the party is new in Manipur, he clarified and claimed that NPF has been taking a big role in bringing peace in Manipur and would continue to do so in future.
He also said that NPF has been fighting for tribal rights, tribal land protection, district boundary demarcation and other tribal related issues.
The party is also shouldering responsibility in resolving the prolonged Naga issue as settling it would elate only the Nagas but also other communities, the NPF leader maintained.
NPF Manipur state unit general secretary Hunreikhui said that NPF took key role in political situation of Manipur as well as in ensuring peace and harmony.
The party is able to stop bandh/blockade and is committed to ensuring tribals their entitled rights by raising voice at the right platform.
Though nomenclature of the party might mention Naga, NPF is for entire tribal population of Manipur and it is weakness of the party leaders that party's ideology and principle could not be spread among the general masses particularly tribals, he conceded.
