Tengnoupal Celebrates Chang Kut 2014

Chang Kut 2014, one of the Kut Festival of the Kuki Community was celebrated under the theme "Unity through Culture and Tradition" with Thangso Baite, MP Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency as the Kut pa at Tengnoupal Village in Chandel District today.
The Kut Celebration was organized by Tengnoupal Village Authority under the sponsorship of S.Tongpao Mate, Executive Member (CAF & PD, Art and Culture) ADC Chandel and graced by D.Korungthang, MLA 42 Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency and Lhukhosei Zou, Chairman, Autonomous District Council (ADC) Chandel as the Chief Guest and Functional President.

Mohring Lamkang, Executive Member ADC Chandel; Khupkholen Haokip, Executive Member ADC Chandel; Jangkhongam Baite, Member ADC Chandel ; S.Robin Tangkhul, Member ADC Chandel also graced as the Guests of Honour.
Colourful Cultural Dances from different cultural troupes, specticular Choreography and Modern Dances were exhibited during the celebration.
Noted Kuki Artistes including Lenchung Haokip, the 1st Kuki Idol also enthralled the huge gathering with their melodies voices.
Stressing the importance of preserving our culture and traditions in its original dorm, D.Korungthang, MLA Tengnoupal A/C said now a day we have observed some modification in our customs and tradition.
We can modify it but it is important to preserve our custom and traditions as it is our identity.
We should preserved our traditional dances and folk songs even in a book.
While appealing all to stop the culture of calling bandh and blockade, he also said that frequent Bandh and Blockade caused delay in developmental works and it will never bring any development.
Instead of calling bandh and blockade, we should adopt different approach as every problem can be solved through peaceful negotiation, he added.
He further maintained that the government will halt importing rice from the west temporarily and will be importing from Myanmar as per the agreement signed with the Myanmar Government.
The general public and social organizations have a big role and responsibility for its success.
So, every individuals and civil organizations should extend co-operation by not calling bandh and blockade along this route, MLA said.
Village Chiefs of Tengnoupal Block, Block level Officers, Social organisation leaders and religious leaders also attended the kut celebration.
