Chakkouba greetings

Governor Dr KK Paul, Chief Minister O Ibobi and others have conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the State especially to married womenfolk on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
Underlining that Ningol Chakkouba is a unique festival of the Meitei community observed every on the second day of the New Moon of Hiyangei (Oct-Nov), Governor Dr KK Paul observed that the festival has gained relevance, more than ever, in today's context of Manipur where the age old social fabric is showing signs of wear and tear.
It is encouraging to note that other communities also have appreciated the ethos of this festival and have started celebrating it with fervour, the Governor said while wishing that the festival is celebrated by all in its true spirit.
In his message, Chief Minister O Ibobi said, "Though the festival is originally observed by the Meitei community, the celebration now extends to other communities and tribes in Manipur thereby reinforcing unity in diversity in the State" .
Saying that the festival promotes the feeling of peaceful coexistence and harmonious social life by reaffirming the faith in traditional values of love and protection, the CM called upon all concerned to imbibe the ideals associated with the festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in the lives of the people.
Assembly Speaker, Th Lokeshwar Singh, HAC Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Vice-chairman of HAC Z Kikhonbou, BJP Manipur Pradesh and All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation have also extended warm wishes to the people on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
Major General of IGAR (S) Rajiv Chopra and all ranks of the Assam Rifles have also extended their warm greetings and goodwill message to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
The IGAR(South) conveyed 'May this festival herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the warm and friendly people of the State' .
