Governor, CM, Speaker, others greet on Ningol Chakouba

The Governor of Manipur, Dr.KK Paul has greeted the women folk of the state with all his best wishes on the occasion of 'Ningol Chakouba' festival to be celebrated all across the state on Saturday.
In a message, the Governor has said that Ningol Chakouba is a unique festival of the Meitei community celebrated every year on the second day of Manipuri month 'Hiyangei'.
On this auspicious day, married women are invited over by brothers and parents to a feast and given 'Dakshina' at the parental homes.
These intimate and nostalgic moments strengthen the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters, the message added.
Maintaining that the Ningol Chakouba festival has gained relevance in today's context of Manipur where age old social fabric is showing signs of wear and tear, the Message from Raj Bhavan appreciated other communities for their increasing encouragement and participation.
Okram Ibobi Singh, the chief minister of Manipur has conveyed his greetings and good wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakouba.
In a message, the chief minister maintained that Ningol Chakouba celebration has extended to all communities of Manipur thereby reinforcing the unity and diversity character of the state.
He has wished that the festival would imbibe the ideals to foster the spirit of harmony, amity and goodwill.
Greeting the people of the state on Ningol Chakouba Day, the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th.Lokeshwar Singh has hailed the festival as an important occasion which has been in existence since times immemorial.
He has wished the people of Manipur particularly the women folk that the bonds of love and peace among various communities will be revived with the coming of Ningol Chakouba.
Dr.Chalton Lien Amo, Vice-chairman of Hill Areas Committee, Manipur Legislative Assembly also greeted the people of all communities on the occasion of Ningol Chakouba.
Dr.Amo, in his message, wished that Chakouba festival would dispel hatred and mistrust among different communities and bring in peace, love, communal harmony and prosperity in Manipur.
