JNMDA's troupe arrives

Imphal, October 24 2014 :
A 16 member troupe of the Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy, Imphal led by its Director L.Upendro Sharma, arrived at Imphal from Tokyo after a successful presentation of Manipuri dance and music in different cities of Japan from October 13 to 19 last in relation to the recently concluded "Festival of India in Japan" .
The event was organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi under the Ministry of Culture, India and Embassy of India in Japan.
The group had left for Tokyo on October 11.During the performance that was widely acclaimed by the audience, Laiharaoba, Dhol-Cholom, Thang-ta, Pung Cholom and Vasanta Raas were presented by the group.
The team also paid a visit to areas affected by the Tsunami in 2011 and paid homage to the departed souls of the disaster.
The director of JNMDA, in a press release today, thanked Smt.
Deepa G.Randhawa, ambassador of India to Japan for her kind presence and exuberance.
