Ukhrul West villages repair road

Ukhrul, August 22 2019:
With the support of west ADC members, villagers have repaired inter-villages road that connects LM sub-division with Ukhrul district Headquarters today.
The road from Talui junction to LM sub-division was filled with stone chips and levelled for immediate vehicular movement to ease transportation inconveniences.
Speaking to the media persons, distressed villagers highlighted their years of hardship and inconveniences caused by the deteriorated road.

According Sochipem, chairman Phadang village, the inter village road from Seikhor Junction to LM sub-division was constructed with the contribution of Phadang and Teinem villagers and the villages in the area have been maintaining the road without any support and assistance from the Government for more than three decades.
The villages had approached State Government on occasions for construction of the inter-villages road.
The State Government has now sanctioned fund for construction of road from Seikhor junction to LM sub-division (about 20 km) to be implemented under PWD.
Meanwhile, headman of Seikhor village, Wilson Rephung claimed that the PMGSY road constructed from Seikhor to Talui Junction is in 'pathetic' condition.
According to him, there is no drainage or retaining wall despite the villagers appeal to the contractor concerned.
The Mantri of Teinem village, Wungnaoyo said that the inter-villages road is the vital road connectivity road for villages of West villages Teinem, Phadang, Champhung, Tora, Ringui.
Wungnaoyo said that taxi services operating from Ukhrul town to Teinem charge Rs 160 per passenger due to the road condition even though the distance is only 25 km.
The area villages held social work twice a year, during post monsoon and Christmas season.
Stating that the road is vital for villages, the villagers appealed the State Government to expedite the construction works to be implemented under PWD at the earliest to further ease the inconveniences of the people of the area.
They also lauded the two Councillors VL Khayinghor and Thanchipem Jajoi for extending financial assistance in hiring excavator and trucks for the social work.
Over five hundred villagers from Teinem, Phadang, Seikhor and Lamlang participated in the social work.
