Imphal, November 15 2013 :
Calling for support to all, United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has made it clear to all that the peace and reconciliation meeting for the Kukis and Nagas of Chandel district scheduled on 16th Nov.
2013 at Chandel is for ensuring real peace and restoring normalcy in the district in line with the teaching of Holy Bible.
In a statement issued by its Information and Publicity Secretary JM.Thadou, UKLF pointed out that a period of time there had been communal clashes between Nagas and Kukis and the sufferings and miseries of the people enormous.
Now, all peace loving and right thinking people of both the communities have realised the futility of such madness and regretted so much for the unwanted happenings of the past and they come forward for a joint venture.
This is a thing to be appreciated by all.
In view of this development, as a true revolutionary organization, UKLF is all set to restore lasting peace and normalcy in the society and strongly supported the peace initiative of the civil organizations.
However, the press statement of KNO/KNA (published in some local dailies on 15/11/13) is seen as trying to disrupt the proposed peace process which is embarrassing and uncalled for.
The same press statement highlighted some past incidents so as to deter the people from attending the peace meeting.
It also heaped some wild and baseless allegations on the head of UKLF.
The proposed reconciliation meeting is mainly for the people of Chandel dist and for all those peace loving people everywhere but not compulsorily to cover the others (Kukis and Nagas) outside the district if they don't want to be.
The UKLF doesn't believe in remembering and recollecting the past ugly incidents as it will only bring more hatred and animosity between the two communities.
Hence, right from its inception, UKLF is leaving no stone unturned to bring peace and harmony between the two communities in a true Christian spirit.
Being human in form and spirit, there might be a time of hatred, conflict and confrontation but there must be also a time to reconcile and forget the past enmities so that we can make a forward movement to rebuild a better and brighter future.
The peace initiative of the KukiInpi and the United Naga Council in 1994 failed because they tried to negotiate peace in their own terms without giving room for other(s).
Likewise, some other peace initiatives have also failed but we should not lost hope completely and give up forever. The present one to be conducted in Chandel is under the initiative of Kuki Peoples Forum (KPF) and Chandel Naga Peoples Organization (CNPO) backed by all other civil bodies of the district.
As a revolutionary organization set up for the people, we, the UKLF, also supported and become a part of it.
Likewise all the people from all sectors should support and cooperate it so that we be able to restore lasting peace and rebuild our shattered society.
Hence, UKLF appeals to all and sundry to support and join the peace and reconciliation programme without any doubt and hesitation.
We must forgive and forget the past so that peace and development visited us again, JM Thadou said.
