Chief secretary chairs meet ahead of VVIP visit

Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar chaired a meeting on Thursday to oversee arrangements in connection with the proposed visit of a VVIP to the state.
As per the minutes of the meeting, the chief secretary informed the officers present that the VVIP is expected to visit Manipur within a week's time and the state government is going to organise a grand reception during which various major projects will be inaugurated and foundation stones laid.
The meeting after a detailed deliberation assigned various responsibilities to different departments and officers with DGP of Police Department entrusted with all security arrangements related to VVIP's route, meeting venue at Hapta Kangjeibung and other places of visit along with maintenance of social/physical distancing and crowd control en-route and at programme venue, carcade and traffic arrangements.
Additional chief secretary (Horticulture)/Horticulture Department and commissioner (Works)/Works Department along with Forest & Environment Department will be responsible for decoration and clearance of meeting venue at Hapta Kangjeibung.
Commissioner (Works)/Works Department will also erect stage and other facilities at the programme venue along with carrying out beautification work of the road from Imphal Airport to Hapta Kangjeibung with support from commissioner-MAHUD, MAHUD director and Imphal Municipal Corporation.
The meeting also resolved that additional chief secretary (Health)/Health Services director will arrange one dedicated medical team for the programme, one ambulance and other medical support.
Other state departments and officers were also instructed by the chief secretary on various works to be carried out by them during the meeting.
