Flood affects Bishnupur, Kumbi AC MLA, ex-Min, Kumbi Municipal Council extend relief aid

The ever increasing level of water at Loktak lake has flooded several fish farms and houses creating an alarming and critical situation in the area.
In Chingmei Leimaron Loukon area, 100 acres of fish farms have been flooded and all the fishes have been lost.
All is lost for those people who depend their livelihoods on the fish farms as many fish farms which have been prepped to enter the fish mela have been lost.
The people of the area have urged the State Government to look into the grievances of the people.
Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL), Bishnupur vice-president Kh Thambal Devi, ANUL Thanga Unit organising secretary O Nungshi and finance secretary of the unit O Bimola Devi inspected the fish farms yesterday.
Victims of nearly 100 houses under Kumbi Municipal Council are taking shelter at temporary relief camps in Leibungmakhong community hall, Central High School, Kumbi and Kumbi Adarsh Primary School.
Numerous paddy fields at Khullakpat, Sandangkhong Khongkha, Saden, Tousungkhong, Khajingkhombi, Tusam , Keibidak , Ithai have been flooded by the incessant rains and the overflowing of rivers and lake.
Many farmers are fearing that the newly planted crops might be ruined by the flood while many animals are left stranded in the area and fodder and feeds are getting scarce.
Meanwhile, ex-Minister and BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson N Mangi Singh visited various flood hit areas like Boryangbi and met the flood victims at Khullakpat who are taking refuge by setting up sheds at the road sides.
During his visit, he assured to discuss the situation and to provide all necessary relief measures .
He is hopeful that the pending relief money which was sanctioned during the 2015 flood will be released at the earliest.
On the other hand, Kumbi AC MLA S Bira Singh along with Up Adhaksha A Brojen Singh distributed relief materials at several relief camps and also to the victims who are not taking refuge at the camps.
A bulk of relief materials including 49 rice bags, 270 kgs of dal, 230 kgs of edible oil, 230 kgs of salt and 230 packets of candle were distributed to relief camps at Leibungmakhong community hall, Central High School and Adarsh Primary School and also to the victims who are not settled at the relief camps.
The MLA also inspected flood affected areas at Ithai, Wapokpi, Sandangkhong, Khulakpat, Chandanpokpi, Chairel, Leingangtabi, Boryangbi and Mangjing.
Speaking to the media, Bira stated that the relief materials have been distributed to ease the hardships and added that another free medical camp will be conducted at Wangoo area similar to the one held yesterday at Kumbi.
Members of Kumbi Municipal Council also distributed relief materials to the victims under the AC.
