Minister Biswajit, others extend help, donate cash

Works Minister Th Biswajit, who is also the MLA of Thongju AC, on Thursday distributed edibles and other items to around 420 households in Okram Chuthek through the volunteers of Ward no.5/18 and 5/33 even as many other individuals and organisations reached out to the people living in containment zones and donated cash to voluntary organisations working to contain Covid-19 pandemic.
In view of the inconveniences faced by the people due to imposition of curfew and declaration of several areas as containment zones to contain the spread of Covid-19, Waiton GP pradhan Pukrambam Surbala distributed edible items to 460 families in ward number 3, 4 and 8 of the GP on Thursday.
The pradhan also assured of distributing edibles in Waiton GP which has around 2000 families.
RPI (A) Manipur State Committee president Maheshwar Thounaojam also distributed edible items to households in Keishamthong AC that have been notified as containment zone.
As a part of Seva Hi Sangathan Phase 2, social worker Kharibam Jivan handed over edible items to households of Wangkhem AC which have been declared as containment zone while Nahashinggi Khongthang (NK) and Kakching Khunnai Chaokhathanba Lup (KKCL) distributed edible items, which were bought through public donations, to 180 poor families of Kakching.
Also, Imphal East District VDF Welfare Association under the initiative of SP (IE) Jogeshchandra Haobijam handed over essential items to families of Imphal East VDF personnel, who have contracted the infectious Covid-19 while discharging their duty.
On the other hand, in a bid to help in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Khurai Assembly constituency, the Assembly Segment Covid Awareness and COVID Enforcement Committee coordinator Amba Sanjenbam donated Rs 20,000 while Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai Election Committee (A) and (B), Khurai Sajor Leikai Election Committee, Khurai Puthiba Leikai Election Committee, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai Election Committee (A) and (B), Khurai Chingangbam Leikai Election Committee, Khurai Ningthoubung Election Committee and Top Khongnangmakhong Election Committee donated monetary aid to Khurai Assembly Constituency Covid-19 Relief Fund opened under the supervision of Khurai AC MLA L Susindro.
Meanwhile, Special contractors K Shantabiren of Toubungkhok, Laishram Kipgen Singh of Takyel Khongbal, Wahengbam Sanaton Meetei of Patsoi Part-2 and Mayengbam Sarat Singh of Takyel Khongbal, Ingudam Brojen of Tera Yengkhom Leirak, Yumnam Parun Singh of Takyel Kolom Leikai, Lukram Leirak Veteran Welfare Association, Lisham Somokanta of Patsoi part-1, A Anokumar of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and many others of the constituency donated more than Rs 1.6 lakh to MLA Covid-19 Relief Fund of Patsoi AC.
Patsoi AC MLA AK Mirabai has appreciated the donors.
Sangai Gym chief coach Naorem Ranjit also donated a sum of Rs 5000 to Keishamthong Covid Task Force on Thursday.
Ranjit handed over the said donation to Keishamthong AC MLA L Jayantakumar.
