Imphal, June 03 2021:
The Students' Union of Kangleipak has urged the State Government and the authority concerned to roll out additional measures to defeat the Covid pandemic and tackle Black Fungus (mucormycosis) infections.
A press release issued by SUK said that Covid infections not sparing even the lives of frontline workers and detection of a few black fungus cases in the State is terrifying.
The union also urged the Government to sensitize the people about the benefits of vaccinating against COVID-19 to carry out its mass testing and vaccination drive more effectively.
It is imperative to clear people's doubt over the safety of the coronavirus vaccine, it added.
The students union, on the other hand, lauded the Government for opening CM Grievance Cell and providing helpline numbers for the people to air their grievances.
It also said that the Government and private firms making essentials available at the doorsteps of consumers is also a good measure in combating the pandemic.
Continuing that collective effort is required to defeat the pandemic, SUK appealed to all to stop playing politics over Covid.
SUK will also start taking actions against those who are taking advantage of the pandemic by selling goods at exorbitant rates and misappropriating public rice.
The students union further stated that certain hospitals and individuals attempting to make extra profits by defying the rates fixed by the Government is upsetting.
SUK then urged the Government to take appropriate actions against the violators.
