Kangpokpi, October 17 2015 :
Kuki Students' Organization GHQ on Saturday endorsed the 48-hour bandh in hill districts called by JAC on Kadangband killings which is to begin Sunday midnight.
The KSO GHQ and its units will give cooperatation and back the JAC on Kadangband killings in enforcing the bandh in the hill districts of the State, affirmed Seiboi Haokip, General Secretary, KSO GHQ while adding that the State Government has totally ignored the issue.
He continued that all vehicular movement, business establishments, and Government institutions will be shutdown during the strike in the entire hill districts before adding that concerned KSO units in the hill districts will keep an eye on people who defy the bandh.
However, educational institutions, medical services, power, water, religious ceremonial and media will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
The student body leader also informed all its units to collaborate and render support to the JAC during the general strike.
Seiboi Haokip further said, "The JAC and the Kuki civil bodies had opted for conducting magisterial inquiry instead of judicial inquiry into the killing for immediate commencement and early culmination of the inquiry, but the Government's apathy towards our gesture by delaying the inquiry is hurtful to our sentiment.
He continued that the nature of the killing requires swift delivery of justice since an innocent civilian driver and a CAO belonging to a SoO signatory Kuki armed organization were slain in the fake encounter.
"The repeated human rights violation by the Assam Rifles has made every person in the State irrespective of tribe and communities a victim in one way or the other", asserted the Seiboi Haokip while appealing to all the people to understand the decision of the JAC and lend support to its movement.
KSO GHQ also appeals to all the State and inter-state transporters to respect the bandh and abstain from any act of defiance that would aggravate the situation.
The student body also said the alleged 'ham-fisted' State Government should be held responsible for any untoward incident arising out of the bandh.
